Scott Kirkland

Scott was born in Burton-on-Trent, UK which is home to breweries such as Ind Coope, Bass and Marston’s and also Branston Pickle and the divisive Marmite.

Aged 14, Scott worked as a trolley boy at frozen food store Bejam and also completed one week of work experience at the legendary Marmite factory. Then, aged 15, Scott went on to work at his local computer store demoing and selling Commodore Amigas, Citizen printers and PCs. It was at this time that Scott began building PCs and writing simple database apps for clients using DBase, Quick Basic and MS Access.

Scott went on to study Computer Science at Staffordshire University (Stafford campus) and on graduating in 1995 worked as a Network Support Engineer at Digital Equipment Corporation, Basingstoke.

In 1996, Scott joined Digital Image Design as R&D Technical Lead (EF2000 V2, F22-ADF, Wargasm) before going on to co-found Evolution Studios in 1999 where he remained as Technical Director until 2007. In 2007 Scott took up the position of Studio Group Technical Director with Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe where he remained until 2015.

Co-founding Secret Sorcery in 2015, Scott and his team produced the critically acclaimed PlayStationVR launch title “Tethered”.

A short stint followed as Development Director at Sumo Digital when Scott heard that d3t was recruiting…

The 2017 acquisition of d3t by Keywords Studios provided a catalyst for accelerated growth to satisfy increasing demand for creative development services. It was a challenge that Scott couldn’t resist, joining the team as Head of Delivery in 2018.

Passionate about great games and their hardware / software from an early age, Scott still manages to find time between work and family commitments to play games and learn from them.

Beyond gaming and gadgets, Scott describes himself as a bit of a petrol-head, recently embarking on a car modification spree involving ECU remap, uprated intercooler, induction system, engine mount, exhaust and DV+. He also enjoys baking bread, making pizzas and analysing data with PowerQuery.
